Man dies in Syracuse's Sedgwick neighborhood, boyfriend charged
Syracuse police are investigating the death of a 36-year-old man in the Sedgwick neighborhood.
Just before 11PM Tuesday, police were called to 209 Wendell Terrace for a report of
an unconscious person.
When officers arrived they found Dale Schantz in cardiac arrest. Witnesses told police that his boyfriend, 30-year-old David Davis, had been in a fight with him before he collapsed.
Schantz was taken to St. Joseph's Hospital where he was pronounced dead. Police say an autopsy determined the death was a homicide and that the altercation contributed to it. Davis has been charged with manslaughter in the second degree. He is currently being held in the Onondaga County Justice Center and is due to be arraigned in Syracuse City Court on Thursday.
The investigation continues.
