Man ejected from vehicle, seriously injured in Marcellus crash

The driver of a blue Pontiac was taken to University Hospital after he struck a tree near Slate Hill Road in Marcellus.

One man has been injured after a serious crash in Marcellus early Friday morning.

The Onondaga County Sheriffâ??s Office tells CNY Central that around 5:00 a.m., 23-year-old Connor Osterman of Marcellus was driving south on Rockwell Road near Slate Hill Road in a blue Pontiac Sunfire when he drove off of the right shoulder and crashed into a tree. He was ejected from the car.

He was taken to Upstate University Hospital with what police call serious leg injuries, though they don't appear to be life threatening. He was the sole occupant of the Sunfire.

A second vehicle, a white GMC pickup truck driven by 53-year-old Christopher Betancourt of Marcellus, was also headed south on Rockwell Road around the same time. That truck swerved to avoid the Sunfire and struck a utility pole. The driver of the truck was not injured.
