Syracuse Police are investigating a shooting at 117 Elmhurst Ave. on the city's south side.

It happened around 10:30 Thursday night.

Police say the victim, a 40-year-old man, says that someone knocked on his door.

When he answered it, the suspect asked if Raheem was home. The victim said he didn't know anyone by that name, then the suspect pointed a handgun at him.

The victim swatted the gun away, but it fired. The suspect then fired another round.

The victim was grazed in the left side and shot once in the back.

He was brought to Upstate University Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The suspect is a black male, wearing an orange shirt with writing on the front. He was last seen running north on Randall Ave.
