A man is dead after being thrown from a car that 'rode a guardrail' for 75 feet along Route 81 Saturday morning. 81 Northbound, between Tully and LaFayette, was shut down for several hours following the crash.

State Police arrested and charged the driver, 22 year-old, Katharine M. Webb of 4443 Otisco Road in Tully, with Vehicular Manslaughter 2nd (a class D Felony) and DWI (a class A misdemeanor).

Webb was driving the 1997 Toyota 4Runner, and was apparently trying to pass a truck when she lost control and struck the guide rails, flipping over several times.

One of her passengers, 29 year- old Jerry S. Brown from 57 Warren Street in Tully was ejected from the vehicle, and pronounced dead at the scene.

Two other passengers, Melinda S. Gilmore, 21, from Solvay, and Heather A. Corbett, 28, from Marietta, were all treated at University Hospital for non life threatening injuries.

State Police tell CNYCentral that they were coming from the convenience store at the Tully interchange. There were beer cans strewn at the accident scene, and troopers say the investigation continues.
