Man stabbed in Syracuse apartment dies from injuries
Germain Haywood, 32, suffered multiple stab wounds at an apartment complex early Friday. Now Syracuse Police have announced an arrest in the murder case. The suspect, Spencer Williams was captured by police not long after the call for help came into 911. Police Chief Frank Fowler told reporters Friday evening that Williams has 43 prior arrests - the most recent came last November for forgery. Some of Williams' prior arrests are for violent crimes including assault.
Investigators say the suspect and the victim lived in the same apartment and witnesses report they were fighting prior to the stabbing. Police were initially called to the Grant Village Apartment Complex at 315 Village Drive around 5 a.m. Friday, on a report a man was stabbed multiple times. He was taken to Upstate University Hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries.
