A man wanted for rape in Oneida was arrested in Waterford after a brief police chase.
On Friday, August 8, Waterford Police officers tried to pull a vehicle over after seeing it violate several traffic laws.
The vehicle stopped near a bridge, at which time 22-year-old Carl R. Goodson ran down a steep embankment and ran into the Mohawk River. Police had him in custody soon after.
Investigators found that Goodson was wanted by the Oneida Police Department for felony rape.
Goodson was charged with aggravated unlicensed operation, failed to notify DMV of address change, speed not reasonable and prudent, failure to yield right of way and improper passing.
Authorities say Goodson is homeless.
He was arraigned and sent to Saratoga County Jail on $5,000 cash bail or $10,000 bond. Oneida City Police also lodged their warrant for rape against Goodson at his arraignment.
