Authorities say a man wanted in a child-sex case in New York is in custody after being captured in Alabama.
The U.S. Marshals Service says Leon M. Sturgis was arrested Thursday at a home in Clayton. Authorities say they found the man hiding under a bed.
It's unclear how long Sturgis had been in Clayton, which is near the Georgia line in southeast Alabama.
Sturgis is wanted by sheriff's officials in Rochester, New York, for numerous sex offenses involving a 7-year-old child. Marshals say the charges include rape and sexual abuse.
Investigators got information indicating the man fled New York and was staying with associates in Barbour County, Alabama.
Officials say Sturgis will be returned to New York. Court records aren't available to show whether he has a lawyer.
