Man who robbed Fulton Savings Bank in Brewerton gets 4 and a half years

Timothy Okun appears in court Friday morning

The man who robbed a Brewerton bank last year was sentenced to four and a half years in prison Friday morning, with five years post-release supervision.

The sentencing comes after 25-year-old Timothy Okun walked into the Fulton Savings Bank on Bartel Road in April 2012, showed the teller what appeared to be a handgun, and got away with cash. Police released surveillance photos of Okun, and thanks to help from the public, arrested him in the Destiny USA parking lot.

The Assistant District Attorney was asking for 8 years in prison for Okun, but Onondaga County Court Judge John Brunetti said that seemed harsh considering Okun robbed the bank with what turned out to be an unloaded airsoft gun.
