Man with suspended license arrested for accident in someone else's car
A Canastota man was arrested Wednesday after he left the scene of an accident in the Town of Cleveland.
46-year-old James Morin was driving down State Route 49 in Cleveland when police say he hit a guard rail and two caution signs when he failed to turn. He was charged with aggravated unlicensed operation, operating a vehicle without and interlock, and leaving the scene of a property damage incident. Morin was driving with a suspended license due to a previous DWI conviction.
The vehicle was registered to 68-year-old Corena Morin of Central Square, who police say gave James Morin permission to drive the vehicle. Ms. Morin then called police and reported the vehicle stolen. She was arrested for falsely reporting an incident and is scheduled to appear in court later this month.
