Investigators are still searching for the cause of a massive fire that destroyed a popular Auburn bar.
The flames broke out at Tinkers Guild Tavern on Franklin Street around 9:30 a.m. Monday. When crews arrived there was already smoke pouring out of the wood frame building. "The flames were like balls of fire coming out the windows after the firemen got here," said Kathy Ostrander, a witness on the scene who called 911. "The high winds, some of the gusts today, have made this pretty tough and we had some exposure problems," said Auburn Fire Chief Jeff Dygert.
The bar was closed when the fire broke out. One firefighter suffered a minor injury. The building is a total loss.
