      Douglas Kirts

A Mattydale man is accused of cutting his girlfriend's neck with a kitchen knife.

Onondaga County Sheriff's deputies say 52-year-old Douglas Kirts got into a fight with his girlfriend, 50-year-old Alice Powers just after 7:00 p.m. Thursday night.

They say while she was on the phone with 911, Kirts grabbed a kitchen knife and pushed it against her neck, then said "I am going to slit your throat."

The blade of the knife caused a minor laceration to Powers' neck. She was treated at her home by paramedics.

Kirts was arrested at his home and charged with assault, criminal possession of a weapon and menacing. He was arraigned in Salina Town Court and sent to the Justice Center without bail.

He is scheduled to appear in Salina Town Court on April 23.
