Governor Cuomo announced his nomination for Richard Ball as Commissioner of the New York State Department of Agriculture and Markets on Thursday.
Ball, a native New Yorker, worked at a vegetable farm in Rhode Island for twenty years before moving back to New York to become the owner and operator of Schoharie Valley Farms. He has owned the farm for twenty years. Ball also served as the Vice President of the New York State Vegetable Growers Association.

Governor Cuomo said in a press release. â??Agriculture is a vital sector of the stateâ??s economy, providing thousands of jobs, food for people around the globe, and a way of life for generations of New Yorkers."
The Department of Agriculture and Markets oversees the New York State Fair.
