Minor injury reported after crash on I-81 in Syracuse
SYRACUSE, N.Y. —
Syracuse Police say a driver suffered minor injuries in a crash on Interstate 81 north in Syracuse Thursday morning.
Police responded to the crash around 7:30 a.m. between exit 17 and exit 18 on the highway. Police said it happened when a vehicle entered the highway, changed lanes and collided with a second vehicle. After the first collision, the first vehicle spun and struck a guiderail and utility pole before coming to rest facing south. The second vehicle then also struck the guide rail facing the other direction.
The driver of the first vehicle, identified as 26-year-old Omar Hargrett of Syracuse, was ticketed for an Unsafe Lane Change. An 18-year-old woman riding in his vehicle reported a minor leg injury but was not taken to a hospital.
Two other passengers in Hargrett's vehicle were not hurt, nor was the 36-year-old driver of the second vehicle.
Police said there was damage to a guiderail and a light pole as well.
Both vehicles were towed from the scene.
