As State Police say more alleged victims have come forward with information about a Cazenovia Funeral Director charged with sexual abuse, the case will now go before a different judge.

Investigators allege 46-year-old Brian Tait forced a 24-year-old woman to inappropriate physical exams while she worked for him. They say Tait told her the physical exams were required to work at Tait Funeral Home on Fenner Road in Cazenovia, which Tait owns.

Tait was supposed be arraigned Tuesday night on a number of sexual abuse charges, including forcible touching and sexual abuse, in Cazenovia Court. However, his court appearance only lasted a few minutes. Judge Timothy Moore recused himself, saying in front of the court he knew people involved in the case.

Tait avoided our camera as he left Cazenovia Town Court. Both Tait and his lawyer declined to comment on the allegations or the case.

Tait still needs to be arraigned on the charges and appear before a new judge. In the coming days, the case will be re-assigned. The case will likely be moved to a different town.

Troopers say this investigation is still open and are asking any former employees with information to contact them at (315) 366-6000.
