More evidence of EEE and West Nile virus found in Onondaga County, no aerial spraying planned

More evidence of Eastern Equine Encephalitis (EEE) and the West Nile virus has been found in Onondaga County, according to Onondaga County Commissioner of Health Cynthia Morrow.

Evidence of both EEE and West Nile was found in a mosquito pool collected on September 4 at the East Taft Road trap.

"Given very low mosquito counts and the extended weather forecast, there are no plans to perform additional spraying at this time" said Morrow.

Morrow advised the public to continue taking personal protection measures and to keep yards free from standing water to reduce the mosquito population.
