Morning Lysander fire kills five pets

Five pets are dead after a fire damaged a home in Lysander Monday morning.

Onondaga County Sheriff's Deputies tell CNY Central that around 9:45 a.m. emergency crews were called to a fire on Route 31 in the Town of Lysander, just outside of Baldwinsville. Police say two cats, a dog and two ferrets were killed by the fire, which was attended by the Moyers Corners Fire Department, Belgium Cold Springs Fire Department, State Police and the Red Cross.

Police say no one was home at the time of the fire, and they do not know how it started. The fire is under investigation.
