Motorcyclist injured in a hit and run in Oneida County

According to the Oneida County Sheriffâ??s Department, a motorcyclist was injured in a hit and run shortly before 10 a.m. on Tuesday.

The accident happened on State Route 46 in the Town of Western.

According to the Sheriffâ??s Office, 21-year-old Derek Keuhnhold, of Westernville, was driving his Harley Davidson south on Route 46 when a car traveling north entered Keuhnholdâ??s lane.

Keuhnhold tried to swerve away from the car but it was too far in his lane and the car side swiped the motorcycle.

He was treated for road rash, cuts and bruises by the Westernville Fire Department and brought to Saint Elizabethâ??s Hospital for further treatment.

Witnesses described the car as an older gold colored car, possibly a Ford Taurus.

The Sheriffâ??s Department says the car was last seen turning on Route 274 and it should have damage on the driverâ??s side from the impact with the motorcycle.

Anyone with information about the car or driver involved is asked to call the Sheriffâ??s Camden Field Office at 245-0800.
