Neighbors in a development in the Town of Clay say they're worried because a bear is roaming around town.

This picture was uploaded to the CNY Central Facebook page Monday night. It's a bear walking in the Lawton Valley development off of State Route 31. This is on Rockhampton Path, where neighbors say they love being outside, and now have concerns about their children.

The State Department of Environmental Conservation has advised folks in the area to keep their trash covered and remove bird feeders.

Neighbors tell us news of a bear roaming around has them on edge.

"I was really shocked because we don't live anywhere near the Adirondacks or anything and I was a little worried and we've been afraid ever since the brought our grills in and didn't bring our garbage out till today because we don't want to have anything to do with him coming around our house," said Linda Cornell of Clay.

Recently, there have also been bear sightings in the eastern suburbs of Syracuse, including Manlius and Pompey.
