An upstate tourism organization has published a travel guide focusing on the War of 1812's historic sites in New York and Pennsylvania.
"Waterways of War: The War of 1812" is a 72-page, full-color guide to the battlegrounds stretching from Plattsburgh in northeastern New York to the shores of Lake Erie in western Pennsylvania.
Published by the Sackets Harbor-based Great Lakes Seaway Trail tourism organization for the war's bicentennial, the book provides insight to the key battles fought on American and Canadian soil as well as on the strategic waterways separating the two countries.
The book is available at historic sites along the Seaway Trail and through www.seawaytrail.com.
The War of 1812 book is a companion to the guide book the group published to mark the 250th anniversary of the French and Indian War.
