      New Hartford man accused of attempting to make child porn faces additional charges

      A New Hartford man, already in custody for attempting to manufacture child pornography, was charged with possessing child porn.

      New Hartford Police say investigators executed a search warrant at the residence of William J. Potoczny, 59, on State Route 12 on February 13. Police sized his computer, digital cameras, and other related material during the search.

      Police found numerous images of children engaged in sexual acts on his computer??s hard drive during examination at the Utica College Computer Crime Lab.

      Potoczny was arrested and charged with one count of possessing a sexual performance by a child, a felony.

      Potoczny was already in custody in New Jersey at the time of his arrest on charges of aggravated sexual assault, attempt to endanger the welfare of a minor by attempting to manufacture child pornography by attempting to debauch the morals of a child, and attempting to transmit obscenity to a child and endangering the welfare of a child by transmitting child pornography.

      Potoczny was arraigned in the Town of New Hartford court and released after posting a $10,000 bail bond. Potoczny is schedule to reappear in court on Thursday, March 7.

      Police say the analysis of his computer is ongoing and additional charges may be filed.
