New York comptroller pays a visit to State Fair with checks for unclaimed funds

New York Comptroller Thomas DiNapoli brought some money to the State Fair in Syracuse.

DiNapoli scheduled an appearance the Center of Progress Building Monday morning to give people from central New York checks for unclaimed funds from institutions across the state.

"There's no fee, there's no charge. It's your money. We just want to return it. In fact, for some of these accounts, for a period of time you may even be collecting interest," said DiNapoli.

The largest was $13,864 from an old bank account.
