New York State Fair listed among tops in U.S.

Its unique agricultural display wine and cheese samples has earned the New York State Fair a place among the Top State Fairs in America, according to Yahoo! Travel.

The website ranks our State Fair in the company of Texas, California, Ohio, Wisconsin, Iowa, and Minnesota.

The wine and cheese tastings introduced last year in the Taste NY Wine and Cheese Seminar were big hits in the report.

Fairgoers can look forward to the return of that seminar this year. Samples will be offered twice a day in the Horticulture Building.

Established in 1841, Yahoo! bills the New York State Fair as the oldest in the country.

The report praises our "celebration of homegrown agriculture," with 70 different competitions and 63 rides.

Yahoo!'s report follows an honor from released last month. The destination website ranked the New York State Fair as the Number One State Fair in the country, citing its variety and accessible, family-friendly atmosphere.

The Great New York State Fair runs from August 21 through Labor Day.
