Syracuse Police are investigating the death of a 9-year-old girl. The child was found in her home in the 200 block of West Glen Avenue Monday evening. The child's parents are cooperating with the police investigation. The initial call to police came in sometime prior to 11:00 p.m. Monday night. The child's name was not revealed.
At a brief news conference held outside the home, which is surrounded by crime tape, police said they are in the very early stages of the investigation.
"We're not labeling this death at this point suspicious, but just unknown circumstances." says Sgt. Tom Connellan. "We will be working very carefully and closely with the medical examiners office on this case, to try and determine the exact cause of death and the manner in which it occured."
As of Tuesday morning, crime scene investigators were still on the scene. Police are now awaiting autopsy results.
This is a developing story and we expect to learn more information as the investigation develops. Check back for updates.
