A 19-year-old man is in an upstate New York jail after state police say he drove a pickup truck with four people in the vehicle's bed nearly 100 mph during a chase on rural roads at night.
Police say troopers attempted to pull over James Russell of Crown Point around 2:40 a.m. Saturday in his Essex County hometown, 100 miles north of Albany.
Officials say Russell failed to stop and troopers began pursuing his pickup, which also had a passenger in the front seat.
Troopers say he reached a top speed of 95 mph in a 35 mph zone before stopping.
The charges against him include reckless endangerment and driving while intoxicated.
Russell is being held in the county jail. It couldn't be determined if he has a lawyer.
