NY restaurant worker charged in fatal shooting

Authorities say they've charged a Buffalo restaurant dishwasher with fatally shooting an 18-year-old co-worker and wounding the victim's father.

Police say 51-year-old Ernesto Arechavaleta-Taureaux (uh-rehch-uh-vuh-LET'-uh-TOR'-ee-oh) opened fire inside Merge as workers prepared to open the restaurant late Saturday morning.

Officials say Rick Costner Jr., a sous chef, was killed and his 40-year-old father, the restaurant's manager, suffered non-life threatening injuries.

Police say other workers disarmed the gunman.

Arechavaleta-Taureaux was arraigned in Buffalo City Court Sunday morning on a second-degree murder charge. It wasn't known if he had a lawyer.

Investigators have not determined a motive.
