      NY teacher arrested in school parking lot for DUI

      CENTER MORICHES, N.Y. (AP) - A Long Island high school teacher is facing charges she was driving under the influence of drugs and alcohol following a hit-and-run crash.

      Suffolk County Police say they arrested 47-year-old Tracey Forman at 8:30 a.m. Monday in the parking lot of Center Moriches (mohr-IH'-chihz) High School.

      Moments earlier, police say she crashed into an unoccupied van about a mile from the school.

      The Patchogue (PACH'-awg) resident was being held for arraignment on Tuesday. She is charged with leaving the scene and driving while ability impaired by drugs and alcohol.

      It was not immediately known if she has an attorney.

      Prosecutors say Forman had a prior arrest in December on a charge of shoplifting $347 in merchandise from a department store.

      School officials did not immediately comment.
