Authorities say New York Police Department officers responding to a call shot and wounded a man who approached them carrying a machete in each hand.
Officers arrived to East 46th Street in Brooklyn around 8 p.m. Saturday, after a 911 call came in about a man armed with two knives involved in a dispute.
Police say the officers saw the man coming out to the street when they arrived, and one of them fired at him when he confronted them.
The man was shot in the right forearm and the left hip. He was hospitalized in stable condition.
