One dead and two injured after three car crash on 690 East
A man is dead and two others injured after a three car crash on Route 690 East at about 4:00 AM Sunday.
Officers say an Audi, driven by 36-year-old Paul Drake of East Syracuse, was broken down on the shoulder of 690 when a Toyota, driven by 27-year-old Ryan Dearnaley of Fabius, stopped to help.
An SUV, driven by 33-year-old Daniel Wall of Syracuse, slammed into the back of the Toyota, sending it into the Audi. All three drivers were taken to Upstate for treatment. Dearnaley later died of his injuries. Friends say Dearnaley had a five year old son and was an experienced auto technician who graduated from Morrisville State.
Route 690 Eastbound was closed from 4:00 AM to 8:00 AM while police were on the scene.
No tickets have been issued so far. On Monday, Syracuse Police Sgt. Gary Bulinski said the investigation into the crash in in the very early stages.
