One person critical after stabbing, possible shooting in Solvay

Solvay Police have identified the victim in stable condition at Upstate University Hospital, and they have now arrested a suspect.

Police say 43-year-old Michael LaPoint is in the hospital with multiple stab wounds. LaPoint lives at 217 William Street.

Solvay Police have arrested 42-year-old John Conway. Conway is charged with attempted murder 2nd degree, assault 1st degree, criminal possession of weapon 2nd, 3rd and 4th degrees.

Conway was arraigned in the Town of Camillus without bail or bond.

Police were originally responding to a shots fired call, but say they could not find any evidence of shots actually being fired.

The call came in around 5:27 Sunday morning. Solvay Police tell us the incident happened between two residences in the 200 block of William Street, between the 217 and 221 buildings.

Police now say the attack stemmed from an ongoing argument between the two men.

LaPoint is now listed in stable condition at Upstate Hospital.
