One person is dead after a wrong-way crash on Interstate-690 westbound.
Geddes Town Police Sergeant Gail Barilla says two cars were involved in the crash that happened at Exit 6 around 8:20 Sunday night. Police s ay one of the cars was traveling eastbound in the westbound lane when it collided with an oncoming vehicle where 690 meets the ramp to Route 695. There was only one person in each vehicle at the time of the accident. When police arrived on the scene, they pronouned the driver of the wrong-way vehicle dead. The other driver was taken to hospital by ambulance with what police are calling minor injuries. Police are not releasing the names of the drivers while they notify family members.
I- 690 was closed off near Exit 7 while Geddes Police and Onondaga County Sheriff's Deputies investigated the accident scene last night. It is now back open.
