Oneida County dive teams search for vehicle that driver says was in Mohawk River

A driver in Utica told police a car was in the Mohawk River near Leland Ave, and crews are still searching.

tica Police officers were flagged down by a driver Monday evening over a vehicle submerged in the Mohawk River.

The person claimed to have seen tail lights illuminating the water in the river on Leland Ave. Officers searched the water, but did not see a vehicle. Members of the Oneida County Sheriff's dive team responded and searched the water for some time, but were unable to locate a vehicle. The search will continue this morning and the road is expected to be closed for several hours during the search. Police recommend suing an alternate route.
