An Oneida man is accused of making his 3-year-old son stand in scalding hot water and leaving the child with severe burns.

50-year-old Anthony Montgomery, of Lenox Ave., is charged with assault and endangering the welfare of a child.

Oneida Police say he made the little boy stand in a bath tub of scalding hot water as punishment for messing his pants. The child suffered second degree burns to his feet and was taken to the Upstate Burn Clinic in Syracuse for treatment.

Montgomery was arraigned in Oneida City Court and was sent to the Madison County Jail in lieu of $20,000 cash bail or $40,000 bond. He is scheduled to be back in court on Friday.
