Oneida Shores Beach off limits to swimmers because of E-coli concerns

We have an alert for you that may change your weekend swimming plans.

The Oneida Shores Beach in the Town of Cicero will not open for swimming, which was originally scheduled for tomorrow.

The waters are off limits because of continued high levels of E-coli bacteria.

The Onondaga County Health Department says it will continue to monitor the lake water until it reaches acceptable levels.

The department says the run-off from the recent heavy rainfall is to blame. Most varieties of E-coli are harmless, but some cause diarrhea or gastrointestinal illness.
