Oneida Shores Park Beach closed to swimmers due to E. coli

If you were planning to take a dip in Oneida Shores, you may have to re-think your plans.

Oneida Shores Beach in Cicero is closed for swimming due to high levels of E. Coli bacteria in the water. Swimming will not be allowed until bacteria levels return to acceptable levels.

Health officials monitor lake water routinely and close swimming when bacteria levels exceed acceptable standards.

Most varieties of E. coli are harmless or cause brief diarrhea. Some types of bacteria can cause gastrointestinal illness. Anyone concerned about gastrointestinal symptoms should contact their doctor.
