A substitute teacher from Onondaga County who most recently taught in Oneida has been arrested for allegedly having inappropriate sexual contact with a teenage boy.
State Police say 24-year-old Christopher F. Yanulavich of Fayetteville was arrested Wednesday afternoon in Oneida for one count of criminal sexual act with a 16-year-old boy, which occurred in April in the Town of Stillwater.
According to Oneida City School Superintendent Ronald Spadafora, Yanulavich had been â??subbing on and off over several yearsâ?? in the district, and at the beginning of the school year had been appointed as a long term substitute language teacher at Willard Prior Elementary School. He was filling in for a teacher who was on leave.
The Oneida Daily Dispatch reports Yanulavich had previously worked at other schools in Fayetteville and at Syracuse University.
Spadafora tells CNY Central Yanulavich is no longer employed with the district as of Friday. His employment was terminated as a result of his arrest. Spadafora says the district has not received any reports of misconduct on the part of Yanulavich, but they are investigating as a part of regular procedure.
Yanulavich was arraigned in the Town of Malta Court in Saratoga County. He is currently being held in the Saratoga County Jail on $2,500 cash bail or $5,000 bond.
