Central New Yorkers looking to beat the heat this holiday weekend have two more places to go starting Friday.
The Onondaga County Parks Department announced Thursday that its two beaches, Jamesville Beach and Oneida Shores, will be open a day early this year. The early opening is ahead of an anticipated busy and hot Memorial Day weekend for local parks and recreation areas.
The county says that the beaches will open Friday morning at 11:00 a.m. Starting Saturday, the beaches will be open each weekend through June 17 from 11:00 a.m. â?? 6:00 p.m. After that the beaches will begin their regular weekday schedule through the summer months.
Admission to Jamesville Beach and Oneida Shores is $6.00 Fridays â?? Sundays and holidays, and $4.00 Mondays - Thursdays. A season pass is available for $31.50 and is valid for both beaches.
