Three Oswego County residents were arrested for welfare fraud yesterday in unrelated cases, according to the Oswego County Sheriffâ??s Office.
Deputies say 57-year-old Mona Farrar, of Fulton, was arrested and charged with grand larceny, welfare fraud and three counts of offering a false instrument for filing, when she received $3000 worth of benefits that she didnâ??t qualify for because she didnâ??t report income to the Oswego County Department of Social Services from April 2009 to April 2010.
Deputies also say 48-year-old Susan C. Young, of Central Square, was arrested for grand larceny, Welfare fraud and offering a false instrument following an investigation where she allegedly received $2000 in benefits from the Oswego County Department of Social Services after not reporting additional income.
And a third Oswego County resident, 27-year-old Justeen Dix, of Fulton, was arrested on the same charges as the other two; after deputies say she stole $3000 worth of benefits from Oswego County DSS after not reporting additional income from May 2009 to March 2010.
These were the third, fourth and fifth welfare fraud arrests in the last two days, as deputies nabbed another Fulton couple February 13 for the same crime.
All three were arraigned and will return to Town of Mexico court on February 26.
