Missing Oswego girl found safe in Syracuse, one day after mother speaks out
UPDATE: Syracuse Police say 12-year-old Lillith West from Oswego was found safe and unharmed in Syracuse on Saturday. A called-in tip led police to her location on Erie Boulevard East at Burger King.
OSWEGO, N.Y.--- An Oswego mother is searching for answers after her oldest daughter went missing from Elmcrest Children's Center in Syracuse.
Syracuse Police put out a public plea for information on 12 year-old Lillith West. Officers say she was last seen on Wednesday afternoon near HW Smith School on Salt Springs Road.
She if 4'11" with short blonde hair and was last seen carrying a pink mesh backpack and was possibly wearing slippers. Authorities say she is from Oswego County and is not familiar with the Syracuse area.
Her family says they're thinking the worst. They say she takes medication for depression and anxiety.
They say not knowing Lillith's location is a nightmare. Her mother recalls what the days and nights without her have felt like.
"She's a little girl who's very friendly," said Natasha Newton, "she'll talk to anyone.You know-what's going on?"
"We've been asking the police for days, get her picture out here, whatever we can do, to get her found as fast as possible because of her mental illness also," Newton continued.
