Over 5,000 high school students representing 52 schools from across the state competed tonight at the Carrier Dome in the New York State Field Band Conference Championship.
Teams competed for titles in six different conferences based on school size. Camillusâ?? own West Genesee High School won the national class. Corning East, Lancaster, Medina, West Seneca West and Westmoreland also took home the Governorâ??s Cup tonight.
Win or lose, this the culminating event that students look forward to all season long.
â??This is the one super nice show,â?? said Baldwinsville junior Caitlin Barron. â??Itâ??s a great stadium. Itâ??s a great crowd. Itâ??s a great night.â??
Baldwinsville kicked off their â??Metalâ??-themed performance with the opening chords to Iron Man before transitioning to Aerosmith. Oswego placed fourth in their small schools class with an Amelia Earhart theme. Cicero-North Syracuse delighted the crowd with their ominous â??The Masque of the Red Deathâ?? performance, which featured a macabre narrated tale perfect for the Halloween season.
