Palermo family being helped after overnight house fire

A fire that spread from a car to a garage to a home in Palermo kept 9 Oswego County fire companies busy into Saturday morning

A busy overnight for Oswego County fire volunteers, as nine companies were called out to contain a spreading fire.

Oswego County 911 tells us it started as a car fire alarm, at 5256 County Route 49 in Palermo, about 11:30 Friday night.

The fire spread to the garage, and eventually to the house itself.

Palermo, Caughdenoy, Central Square, Cody, Volney, Phoenix, Pennellville, New Haven and Mexico volunteers responded.

The Red Cross was also called to the scene to help the family.
