      Panera to overhaul chaotic 'mosh pit' ordering system

      Panera CEO Ron Schaich realizes ordering at his chain can be chaotic.

      The confusion is a problem for Panera, which has seen its sales growth slow.

      Now the company is planning to overhaul the system over the next several years in a project called Panera 2.0. It's a push that includes letting customers order with their mobile devices to have their food ready to go at a certain time, or delivered to their tables.

      The plans also include in-store kiosks where customers can customize their sandwiches without having to explain it to a cashier. The options are intended to improve order accuracy and shorten wait times.
