Pedestrian pinned to wall and killed in DWI car crash

One woman is dead after a car accident in the 600 block of East Division Street Wednesday morning in Syracuse.

Syracuse Police say that Te Sa was driving a black Toyota down Division Street crashed into a parked, unoccupied Hyundai on the opposite side of the street. Sa's car became stuck on the parked car and the small concrete wall.

Police say that when Sa backed up to dislodge her car from the Hyundai, Sa's car shot backwards and struck 41-year-old Anna Russo-Young who was walking on the sidewalk.

Police say Russo-Young was pinned between the car and a concrete block wall. Sa pulled forward and then backed up a second time striking Russo-Youngagain. Sa then tried to drive away but a bystander pounded on her window and told her that she had hit someone.

Russo-Young was taken to a University Hospital in extremely critical condition were she succumbed to her injuries late Wednesday afternoon.

Police determined that Sa was drunk behind the wheel.

Sa was charged with vehicular manslaughter, multiple DWI charges, unsafe backing up and failure to keep right.

Sa was arraigned in Syracuse City Court on Thursday. Bail was set at $25,000. Sa is scheduled to appear back in court next week.
