Plane makes safe emergency landing at Syracuse Airport after mechanical issues

Mon, 22 Jul 2013 19:54:22 GMT — A Delta flight with 127 people onboard made an emergency landing at Hancock International Airport shortly after takeoff Monday afternoon.Officials say the plane departed at 2:33 p.m., and shortly after reported a mechanical issue. However, specific details about the nature of the emergency are not yet available.The aircraft, an Airbus 319 with 122 passengers and 5 crew, landed safely and returned to the gate, where passengers were taken off of the aircraft. It was Delta Flight #1092 from Syracuse to Atlanta, Georgia.The first call to 911 was placed just before 3:00 p.m. Syracuse Fire Department, Onondaga County Sheriffs Office, North Syracuse Fire Department and an ambulance responded to the scene.
