SU Head Coach Jim Boeheim along with his wife Juli announced the details of the 13th Annual "Basket Ball" Gala on Tuesday, and the fundraising event will bringing a legendary musical act to Central New York. The Pointer Sisters will be the headliners on April 28 at the Turning Stone Resort and Casino, while ESPN announcer and Syracuse alumnus Sean McDonough is scheduled to serve as master of ceremonies.
The "Basket Ball" is a joint effort between the Jim and Juli Boeheim Foundation and Excellus BlueCross BlueShield, helping to raise funds for the fight against cancer and to help children in need. Coach Boeheim says the most satisfying element over the past few years has been the addition of helping kids in Central New York.
"I think that that's been a really good part of this least year or so," says Boeheim, "being able to do that, help specific organizations with grants. We've been able to help 36 different local organizations, so that's been the most rewarding thing in the last year or two."
This event has raised over $4.4 Million in the last 12 years.
