Police: 19-year-old Syracuse man charged with shooting woman in the face
Syracuse Police have made an arrest in a shooting that occurred at the end of October on the city's south side.
Jheezzmearr Thompson, 19, of Syracuse, was arrested last Friday and charged with assault in the first degree and criminal possession of a weapon in the second degree.
According to authorities, Syracuse Police officers responded to the 100 block of Glenwood Avenue around 10:58 p.m. on Oct. 29 in regards to a shooting complaint. When they arrived, officers located a 20-year-old female who was suffering from a gunshot wound to the face, police said.
The victim was transported to Upstate University Hospital and is listed in stable condition at this time, police said.
Detectives assigned to the Criminal Investigations Division conducted a thorough investigation of the incident, which helped identify Thompson as the suspect, according to police.
Thompson is currently lodged at the Onondaga County Justice Center.
