Police: 2 injured in Syracuse highway shooting, suspect at large

SYRACUSE, N.Y. -- Syracuse Police are investigating after two people were shot at on Interstate 81 near Syracuse's South Side on Monday night.

Officers were investigating a shots fired complaint that came in at 9:21 p.m. in the area of E. Colvin Street near Garfield Avenue. While investigating, they were notified that two victims had arrived at Upstate University Hospital with gunshot wounds.

Police met with the victims who said that they were shot at while driving on I-81 near Brighton Avenue. The victims further explained that the continued to drive on the highway going straight to the hospital.

Syracuse Police say at this time it appears that the shots fired complaint is the same incident where the victims were shot.

The gunshot wounds do not appear to be life threatening injuries at this time, according to police.

No suspect information is available at this time, but an investigation is underway.
