State Police report 17-year-old Devon Brantley is in custody on Sunday afternoon, and Westmoreland-area residents no longer need to stay indoors.
Officials say around 11:45 on Sunday morning, State Troopers tried pulling over a vehicle for speeding. The vehicle failed to stop, driving through the Westmoreland toll booth on the New York State Thruway (Exit 32) and crashing into a guide rail.
Two suspects ran out of the car. One suspect is in custody. The second, 17-year-old Devon Brantley, was taken into custody after being at-large in the area.
Brantley is described as a black male, 5'7" tall wearing dark shorts and no shirt. Police believed he might have been carrying a .45 caliber handgun.
Neighbors were urged to stay indoors in the area of the NYS Thruway and Westmoreland.
