      Police identify body found on Syracuse's south side

      Syracuse Police are calling a body, found on Mc Allister Ave, off South Salina, a suspicious death

      Update: 2:23PM April 15, 2012

      Police have identified the body found in a vacant lot behind Mavis Discount Tire at South Salina Street and McAllister Avenue. The victim has been indentified as Carnell E. Marshall, 27, of 113 Maris Drive, Syracuse, NY.

      Police say the cause of death is still undetermined at the time, and it is still labled as suspicious. The Syracuse Police Crime Scene Unit is still on the scene processing and collecting evidence at this time.

      Police are still asking for anyone who has any information on the victim or the circumstances surrounding his death to contact detectives at 442-5222. All calls will remain confidential.

      Syracuse Police are investigating a suspicious death after a neighbor found a body in a vacant lot behind Mavis Discount Tire at South Salina Street and McAllister Avenue.

      Officers said the body was found around 10:30 a.m. Saturday and said circumstances around the death are suspicious.

      Police have not identified the body and would not say what condition the body was found or how long it had been there.

      Police said the man appeared to be in his forties.

      Anyone with information about the victim's identity or circumstances surrounding his death is asked to call Syracuse Police at 442-5222.
