Police identify victim in deadly shooting near Syracuse University

Syracuse Police investigate the scene on Ivy Ridge Road Tuesday afternoon.

Syracuse Police are investigating a shooting near the Syracuse University campus that left one man dead Tuesday afternoon.

Police have now identified the victim as Bobby Brown, 40, of 406 Ivy Ridge Road in Syracuse.

Police spokesman Sgt. Tom Connellan tells CNYcentral that around 4:50 p.m. Tuesday afternoon officers responded to the 400 block of Ivy Ridge Road near South Campus and found the victim shot in his apartment. Brown was unresponsive when he was found. He was taken to Upstate University Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

The investigation is active and ongoing at this time. Anyone who has information about this homicide is asked to call the Syracuse Police Department at 315-442-5222. All calls will be kept confidential.
