Police identify Waterloo homicide victim found shot in his home

Sheriff's deputies in Seneca County have identified the 61-year-old man was found with two gunshot wounds in his torso when police were called to his home at 827 Hecker Road in the town of Waterloo.

Police say William Kenny was pronounced dead at Geneva General Hospital.

The incident happened around 3:30 a.m. Sunday. Police say Kenny was the only person home when they arrived. He was located in a bedroom suffering from gunshot wounds.

Seneca County Sheriff Jack Stenberg says the department is working with state police. He says it appears the shooting wasn't a random attack and that there's likely no danger to other neighborhood residents.

Stenberg did not discuss a possible motive.

An autopsy is pending.
